Eretz Hachaim Cemetery in Beit Shemesh: Burial Plots and Information

Eretz Hachaim Cemetery in Beit Shemesh is a well-established burial location chosen by many Jewish families in Israel and overseas. The cemetery offers organised sections, individual plots and, when available, adjacent plots for couples or family members.

About Eretz Hachaim Cemetery

Eretz Hachaim, also written Eretz HaChaim, is situated in Beit Shemesh between Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv area. It is known for its maintained grounds, structured layout and accessibility from major population centres. A newer section, Chasdei Yitzchak, is located close to the main chapel and cemetery office.

Burial-Plot Options

• Individual burial plots
• Adjacent plots for couples, subject to availability
• Family or group arrangements when suitable plots are available
• Pre-purchase arrangements for families living in Israel or abroad

Who May Purchase a Plot?

Plots may be available to Israeli residents and to Jewish families living overseas. Every purchase remains subject to the cemetery’s current rules, approval, documentation requirements and plot availability. Families should confirm the exact section, burial arrangement and ownership documentation before paying.

How the Purchasing Process Works

1. Discuss your requirements: Explain whether you need one plot, adjacent plots or a family arrangement.
2. Confirm availability: Receive information about the section and available plot options.
3. Receive a written quotation: Confirm the plot price, additional charges and payment terms.
4. Complete the application and payment: Supply the requested identification and documentation.
5. Receive official confirmation: Keep the deed or purchase documentation showing the allocated plot details.

Location and Visiting Information

The cemetery is located at the entrance to the Beit Shemesh area and is accessible by road from Jerusalem and central Israel. Because sections and entrances can be confusing on a first visit, request the precise entrance, section details and current visiting instructions before travelling.

For a plot visit, it is advisable to arrange an appointment so someone can help identify the correct section and explain the available options.

Funeral and Burial Coordination

When a burial is required, arrangements may include coordination with the cemetery and Chevra Kadisha, documentation, permits and transportation from Ben Gurion Airport when the deceased is being brought from abroad. Read our step-by-step guide to arranging burial in Israel from overseas.
